Job Overview

The Business Core Systems (BCS) department is currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) for the Financials modules of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions.
Reporting to the Director of the Catalyst Application Services team, the selected candidate will work with a team of talented, highly-skilled BSAs.
This individual will also assist the systems liaisons for the Student Financials and Financial Aid modules, along with other related administrative functions of the university and BCS.

The ideal applicant will have working knowledge of business operations and systems requirement processes, effective customer service and presentation skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, the ability to communicate technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
This person must be self-motivated, results-driven and one who takes initiative to proactively problem-solve system issues and complete work tasks; and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with business partners with one or more business process to align technology solutions with business strategies.
  • Support one or more moderately complex business processes.
  • Establish and maintain liaison relationship with business partners and BCS in order to provide effective technical solutions.
  • Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements.
  • May contribute to the business short and long-term planning sessions and provides direction to ensure understanding of business goals.
  • Provides relevant feedback and input from both a business-related and IT perspective.
  • Assesses client needs utilizing a structured requirements process to assist in identifying business priorities and may provide viable business solutions to the client.
  • Develops, writes, and communicates business requirements and functional specifications for the implementation of business solutions.
  • May analyze client operations to understand their particular business objectives and determine opportunities for improvement.
  • Documents current business processes and models and may assist in the business process redesign; provides assistance with business case development (i.

  • Reviews modules for quality assurance and adheres to standards and procedures.
  • Develops user test cases, validates test results during testing, and executes test cases.
  • Investigates and troubleshoots client and user issues, identifies need for technical assistance, and escalates as appropriate.
  • May troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions.
  • Perform on-going routine application maintenance tasks.
  • Keep clients informed of problems, issues, and resolutions.
  • Analyzes performance metrics to ensure client satisfaction.
  • May manage client expectations.
  • May work with external vendors and/or consultants to resolve issues and develop solutions.
  • Documents functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results.
  • Assists in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems.
  • Coaches and transfers knowledge to less experienced team members.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or other related field with 3 years of technical or business related experience OR Associate s degree in a related field with 5 years of technical or business related experience OR 7 years relevant technical or business related work experience.
Requires working knowledge of business operations and systems requirements processes.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Solid knowledge of the financial aid and/or student financials modules of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • Strong team player with the ability to work with a wide variety of different people
  • Strong query, reporting, and data analytics experience
  • Programming and/or SQL writing experience is a plus
  • PeopleSoft Equation Engine experience is a plus
  • Experience testing integrations with third-party systems
  • Experience working in a higher education environment is desired
