Legal Accounts Officer- Carilion Recovery Department FULL TIME DAYS

Job duties include but are not limited to:
Act as Court Representative on regular dockets when assigned. Travel is involved in this function.
Act as witness in court cases when call upon. Travel is involved in this function.
Negotiate SIF/PIF on PI Claims/Large Bal Accts/Special Needs Accounts.
Monitor special needs accounts such as crime victims/disability/complaint accounts/worker's comp/estates.
Review all Accounts coming direct to DRD from Billing EPIC System. Determine course of action for DRD and process to proper workflow.
Investigate and resolve Estate/Deceased Accounts.
Work closely with Level 3 through 5 Management on handling special needs accounts.
Help field questions from Account Representatives when Team Lead and/or Manager not available.
Assist in development of workflows and workques for DRD team account processing.
Field phone calls daily for the department.
Resolve Debtor issues and provide necessary information to public and debtors to resolve accounts and secure payment.
M-F 8:00am to 4:30pm

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate degree in related discipline required or four (4) years combined experience and education required.
Experience: Minimum two years experience working in a law firm or in an environment dominated by legal action required. Minimum one year collection experience, employment by a collection attorney, or civil court experience required. Minimum one year computer experience with Lotus, Microsoft Word, and Windows required.
Licensure/Certifications/Registration: Paralegal degree from a recognized college or certification program preferred. Will accept the equivalent as demonstrated by knowledge and understanding of legal action and a minimum of two years experience in an environment dominated by legal activity.
Other Minimum
Qualifications: Must be able to do data entry and some word processing. Must possess good communication and negotiating skills. Must be familiar with law and court systems relative to collections, estates, and bankruptcies. Must possess good organizational and analytical skills in order to determine appropriate action to be taken on individual accounts. Must be highly self-motivated in order to maintain a high level of productivity
