Position Summary
Directs the crew and performs manual and machine operator tasks related to the set-up, maintenance and operation of the press. Responsible for quantitative and qualitative press performance.
Responsibilities:
Make ready and operate press
Lead, give directions to and monitor work of press crew
Record sheet counts and perform line clearance
Examines job order to determine quantity to be printed, stock specifications, colors, and special
printing instructions
Verifies copy to customer approval or signed color standard
Examines printing plate for visual defects and applies correcting solution to repair minor defects or informs manager of unrepairable plates
Hang plates and register
Install correct thickness packing under blanket to meet manufacture specs
Measures paper thickness and adjusts press console so press will operate
Fills ink and dampening solution fountains and adjusts controls to regulate flow of ink and dampening solution to plate cylinder
Starts press and examines printed copy for ink density, position on paper and registration
Makes adjustments to press throughout production run to maintain specific registration and color density
Makes adjustments to feeder and delivery mechanism
Remove plates and clean all cylinders and bearers
Perform preventative maintenance on press such as lubrication, cleaning and minor adjustments to rollers
Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, security procedures and instructions. Follow all Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) pertaining to area of responsibility
Performs all duties according to established safety policy, including wearing all required PPE
Willing to work flexible hours as necessary
Ensures housekeeping rules are observed in department
Other duties as assigned by the Press Room Manager

Good mechanical aptitude and mathematical ability, including good understanding of measurements
In depth knowledge of the mechanics and capabilities of press
Able to accurately distinguish color variation
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED, trade/vocational school preferred
Forklift certification required
5-7 years Second Pressman experience
Equipment:
Forklift, pallet jack, basic power and hand tools
Physical Requirements:
The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs. The following activities are also required: reach (extending hands and arms in any direction), standing for long periods of time, occasional stooping, walking/balancing (moving about to accomplish tasks), lifting (raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position), grasping (applying pressure to an object with fingers and palm) and repetitive motion (substantial moving of arms, wrists, hands, and/or fingers) is required.
Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral and color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level can be loud.
Additional hours above regular scheduled shift may be required to cover for absences or vacation days, along with meeting production needs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
