Information Technology Specialist

This position serves as an information technology (IT) specialist providing technical and advisory assistance to support the information management needs of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO). The position performs a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT systems within the Office of the United States Attorney. These duties include a wide range of information technology support to meet the USAO information needs using network hardware and software capabilities. Specifically, assignments encompass the following:
Maintains network architecture and infrastructure. Configures and maintains servers, hubs, routers and switches. Monitors network capacity and performance. Performs network diagnostics and resolves network problems. Analyzes network traffic patterns and installs network software fixes, upgrades, and enhancements. Plans and schedules the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and applications software, working closely with customers to insure seamless installation and minimize installation problems. Resolves hardware/software interface and interoperability problems. Optimizes systems performance and identifies components to improve overall systems performance. Manages accounts, network rights and access to systems and equipment. Maintains and controls district's computer equipment inventory. GS-12:
Applicants must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in federal service providing IT customer service and support in troubleshooting, recovering, and resolving recurring software/hardware problems; installing, configuring, upgrading, and troubleshooting commonly used hardware and software systems; maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; implementing policies and procedures to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks and data; and monitoring functionality, security and integrity of internet services. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
