Agency Employee Only - A Job Duties The Virginia Department of Corrections seeks to hire a dynamic leader to serve as the Regional Administrator with an assigned region.
Reporting to the Regional Operations Chief, this position contributes to the public safety mission by managing regional activities in assigned functional area for the Agency.
Position serves as the supervisor and liaison for specific regional operations ensuring appropriate focus on management, administration, and security operations for functions related to Correctional Institutions within assigned Region.
Responsible for managing Re-entry and EBP initiatives focusing on outcomes and ensuring achievement of all operational objectives.
Please note:
This position is assigned to the Western Region; however, the successful candidate can expect reassignment to other regions based on Agency business needs.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.
Working knowledge of the criminal justice system, treatment programs for inmates, facility security, inmate programs, and classification.
Working knowledge of modern corrections methods, policies and practices in corrections.
Strong understanding of the practical application of EBP, re-entry, and other strategic corrections initiatives.
Demonstrated excellence in application of management and leadership skills with a focus on results orientation and effective communication.
Working knowledge of budget and administrative procedures.
Progressively responsible experience in corrections management (community, institutions, or administration).
Management experience directed at achieving operational objectives to include experience supervising corrections staff.
Additional Considerations Advanced knowledge in criminal justice, sociology, psychology, public administration, business administration, management or a related field.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft Outlook Programs.
Participation in criminal justice associations and/or advanced related certifications.
Working knowledge of departmental policies, operating practices, procedures and inmate programs.
