SUMMARY
Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information, record and reconcile transactions, assist in the preparation of financial reports, assist in the day-to-day operations of the department, and handle special projects as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESmay include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepares journal entries and assigned account reconciliations on a period basis according to established schedule. Follows up with appropriate individuals for any needed corrections and prepares journal entries accordingly.
- Understands daily activities of the department and provides assistance when needed to ensure daily and period goals/deadlines are met.
- Helps to ensure period close runs smoothly and according to schedules.
- Prepares and maintains schedules and supporting documentation needed for management, internal and external reporting, internal and external auditors, and SOX requirements.
- Performs analytical reviews and interpretation of financial data and uses advanced communication skills to provide understandable explanations to non-financial business partners.
- Recommends and implements internal control procedures to protect the assets of the company.
- Strong knowledge of PeopleSoft. Provides support and assistance where necessary in the design, development, and implementation of all new accounting-related IT systems, which improves the processing of data, reports, and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills. Strong business acumen and advanced accounting skills.
- Excellent analytical skills for problem determination and resolution. Ability to work independently and make independent decisions.
- Performs other reasonably related duties and special projects as assigned by immediate supervisor and/or other management as required.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Intermediate Access skills.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises the departmental staff in the absence of the department manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include training, planning, assigning/directing work and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and several years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, interpret and comprehend common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to communicate effectively in both an oral and written manner to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees. Ability to effectively present information to top management and external department heads.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as well as ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CPA certification preferred.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
